BORRADAILE, Earl Edward – of Davison, MI, age 88, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 East 3rd Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. P. Thomas Wachterhauser officiating. Cremation will follow service. Burial of cremated remains will be in West Point Cemetery, Liberty, IN at a later date. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI and 10-11 AM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Davison United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Davison United Methodist Church, in Earl’s memory.
Earl was born in Liberty, IN on January 12, 1930, son of the late William Lorenzo and Delpha (Shendler) Borradaile. He married Janice Anne Siglar on June 14, 1952, five days after both earned A.B. degrees from Miami University, Oxford, OH, where they met. His beloved wife died on March 21, 2013. Earl was also a graduate of The University of Michigan Law School Class of 1955. He was a partner at Karr, Wumkes and Borradaile in Flint, MI and Davison, MI from 1956-1970. Earl served as a circuit judge of Genesee County, MI from 1970-1971 and from 1977 until his retirement in 1995. From 1971-1976, Earl was a Genesee County probate court judge. Earl was a member of and served in various capacities at Davison United Methodist Church. He was a board member of the Davison Community Schools from 1968-1970. Earl was a chairperson of the family law section of the Michigan Bar from 1979-1980. He was also a member of the American Bar Association, Genesee County Bar Association, American Judicature Society, University Club of Flint, Davison Country Club and Kiwanis (board of directors Flint Downtown club from 1977-1980).
Earl is survived by 3 children, Diane (David Wright) Borradaile of Montclair, NJ, David (Audrey) Borradaile of Berkley, MI and John Borradaile of Rochester Hills, MI; 2 grandchildren, Elias and Nathan Wright; step-grandson, Larry (Rayme) Betz; 5 step-great-grandchildren, Emily, Chris, Justin, Kaylee and Elizabeth; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his step-granddaughter, Diane Bayley and 4 siblings.
