Donna J. Sivosky

Born: 7/5/1926
Died: 3/1/2021
Age: 94
Community: Flint Twp., MI

Donna (known to many as Mimi) was born on July 5, 1926 and was 94 years old when she died peacefully, surrounded by love, on March 1, 2021.

Mimi was a bright light in the lives of so many people. Her light shined brightly on Steve (affectionately known as Poppi) her beloved husband of 65 amazing years. Steve passed away on July 17, 2013 and has been missed every day since.

Her light glowed on her mother. Donna welcomed Nana (Vesta Buck) into our home until her passing in 1965. And on her Uncle Jay, a frequent visitor and enthusiastic fan of her baking.

And that light gleamed on the rest of her family and friends.

As Mom would always say “Everything is Wonderful”. And she made it wonderful for her four children: Randee Pieper (Dave), Nancy Busch, Lisa Lirones (Bruce) and Don Sivosky (Patrice) and her eight grandchildren, Kelsey Pieper (Ryan Rowe), Jade Pieper, Lauren Grunewald, Jordon Sivosky, Brett Lirones, Nicholas Sivosky, Luke Lirones (Andrea) and Molly Sivosky.

It was wonderful working at Glorias, Ltd. for 36 years. She loved every minute of it. She loved the customers, they loved her back, and she was one of the best customers, too!

It was wonderful that Donna gathered her entire family in Charlevoix annually, thanks to Gloria’s kindness and generosity. She cherished the time, which was celebrated with themed dinner nights, music, laughter, and time spent on the beach. In between snapping lots of photos, she thoroughly enjoyed visits to the studio of Sue and Russ Bolt, to add to her collection (one of many collections). Donna had a keen eye for art, as she herself was an accomplished painter and sculptor.

Speaking of vacations, we took numerous treks to California to visit Mom’s relatives- eating avocados, oranges, and cheese on breaks from driving. In between trinkets stops, the three - or four - kids in the back seat vied for the window seats. It was always an adventure!

According to Mom, and we all agree, it was wonderful and magical living in Western Hills, surrounded by incredible neighbors like the Pougnets, Davises, Neithercuts, Gibsons, VanDuynes, and many more, like Nancy Fox. These friends were lifelong and dear to her heart. Her home was a gathering place and everyone was welcomed with Lemon Bars and Texas Sheet Cake abounding!

Donna was a Jackie O look-alike beauty who had a passion for her family, a menagerie of animals throughout the years, cooking and baking, entertaining and decorating, funky clothes and jewelry, and just being kind to people. She always made the holidays so special, decorating the house and staying up until 3 AM to make things perfect. Somehow, miraculously, she did not show any signs of exhaustion the next day.

Donna was one of a kind and her thoughtful words in her beautiful handwriting reflected that. Her family greatly misses her and feels so fortunate to have had a lifetime with her. We wish eternal “wonderfulness” for Mom and look forward to when we will be together again as a family, in another place.

The family would like to thank Butternut Tree Assisted Living - Bonnie, Marty, and the staff for their care and devotion.

Donations may be made to the Flint Institute of Arts or the Greater Flint Arts Council in Donna’s name and her Celebration of Life will be held when safe to do so.

Think of Donna when hearing her favorite song and raise a glass of Chardonnay!
