BARTZ, April Sue – of Clio, age 72, died peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Honoring her wishes, cremation will be taking place. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church – 520 Butler St., in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
April was born on September 3, 1953, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Jack and Alwilda (Miller) Hewitt. She graduated from Clio High School with the class of 1970. On May 19, 1973, April married Allen Bartz at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and they enjoyed over 50 years together. April was a devoted homemaker whose heart was centered on her love for children, especially her own. Her home was a warm and welcoming place where neighborhood kids always gathered, and she found great joy in being surrounded by them. Being a mother came naturally to April and was her greatest, most cherished accomplishment.
Surviving are: Husband, Allen Bartz; Three Children: Brandon (Jenine Sparks) Bartz, Adrienne Barnes, and Andrea (Wes) Tavegia; Three Grandchildren: Xander Barnes, Fern & David Tavegia; Sister and best friend, Gay Dekalita; Half-brother, Brian (Renee) Hewitt; Step siblings: Steven (Sandy) Myers, Mark (Judy) Myers, and Ron (Margret) Myers, Judy Severence, and Jody Gauthier; Countless loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members. April was also preceded in death by her father, Jack & stepmother, Virginia Hewitt, and her grandmother, Bereneda Hewitt who lovingly raised and cared for her in her childhood.
