BOYER, Joan Helen (Kotowicz) – of Burton, MI, age 83, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Monday, March 28, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Luncheon will follow the Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint 48506. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Choir Fund at St. John the Evangelist Catholic, in Joan’s memory.
Joan was born in Flint, MI on September 10, 1938, daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Brzezicki) Kotowicz. She attended Flint Technical High School but had been offered a scholarship to the famed Interlochen Center for the Arts. Joan also attended Flint Junior College. She married Terrance Boyer in 1960 after being wooed by his charm (Hey Polack, wanna dance?!). Together, they had eight children. Joan was a woman of strong faith and was always active in her church, including choir which she deeply loved. She had many talents. She was an avid writer of poetry and had a beautiful mezzo soprano voice. Joan could draw any likeness from a mere picture. She was a great cook. She cooked with love, and you could taste it! She was kind and generous of spirit, always putting others wants before her own needs. Joan will be dearly missed by all her children and grandchildren who were the lights of her life!
Joan is survived by her husband, Terrance Boyer; 8 children, Terrence (Shea) Boyer, Mary (Marc) Vizina, Therese (Jeff) Walters, Timothy (Danielle) Boyer, Dr. Christopher (Kristine) Boyer, Richard (Lori) Boyer, Rebecca Boyer and John (Jamie) Boyer; 19 grandchildren, Meghan and Erin Boyer, Marc and Jordin Vizina, Joshua and Jacob Walters, Sara, Amanda and Timothy Boyer, Quinton, Malcolm and Grace Boyer, Jaden and Jonah Rishmawi, Isabelle Boyer, Liz Cole, Jack, Gabriel and Tristan Boyer; great-grandchild, Brynlee Perry; sister, Rose Marie (Dr. Richard) Shick; brother, Dr. William (Michelle) Kotowicz; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Kotowicz; sister, Mary (Edward) Koziol and brother, Frank (Phyllis) Kotowicz.
