Jeremy Scott Gabriel

Born: 1/8/1974
Died: 11/18/2023
Age: 49
Community: Gaines Township, MI

GABRIEL, Jeremy Scott passed away suddenly Saturday evening, November 18th, 2023, in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident in downtown Flushing, Michigan. He was 49 years old with much more life in him to exhaust, leaving his two daughters, Kalie Gabriel and Zoie Gabriel, to try their best to uphold the legacy of his wild-spirited heart that will echo for many years to come. He will be missed by so many, as he was not only a father, but a son to James Gabriel, Christine Gabriel, Bethany McNaney, and Curtis McNaney. He was a brother to Melissa Zaluski, as well as a grandson, an uncle, a nephew, a brother-in-law, a cousin, and a friend to so many more. Jeremy had a way of attracting kindred spirits from all walks of life and surrounded himself with people that loved and laughed just as hard as he did. For that, he can never fade away, continuing to live vivaciously through the countless memories and stories that will be shared indefinitely.

On January 8th, 1974, Jeremy was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and he grew up in the tri-city area. When Jeremy was young, you may have seen him riding his prized possession, a Mongoose bike, throughout the streets with his neighborhood friends until he finally upgraded to his first car. You no longer had to see him coming because you could hear his bass bumping down the block. Jeremy wore many hats as he continued to do in his adult life, beginning in Cub Scouts, hockey, Royal Rangers, and was involved in his church’s youth group. More than anything else, he enjoyed being in nature, cherishing his time spent at his grandparent’s cabin, and activities like hunting, fishing, and riding through nature trails. In high school, Jeremy was on the tennis team where it is speculated his competitive nature that was already present, grew into fruition.

Jeremy Gabriel graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1992, going on to attend a year at North Central Bible College where he connected with some of his longest friends. He returned home on a mission to marry his longtime girlfriend, and they would become the proud parents of two daughters. This is when he began his 24 year career at General Motors, working in production. He would eventually move to the Genesee County, where he spent the last two decades of his life befriending and somehow finding that he had made such a large area feel small, constantly running into people he knew no matter where he went.

Jeremy picked up so many hobbies along the way, continuing his love for the outdoors and hunting, riding motorcycles, especially with his aunt and uncles, being a part of recreational roller hockey, Hank and Don’s softball team, learning guitar, and he even went through a bowling stage. His interest in music was ever-present throughout his life, and he used it as a way to connect with himself and others. When his daughters finally moved on to college, he adopted a dog, Dexter Jones Gabriel, who he spoiled until his very last days. He loved Michigan football and basketball, and it was rare to see him during these seasons not decked out head to toe in all his affiliated gear. Jeremy was charismatic, witty, outspoken, had a heart of gold, and found a way to make everyone he met feel at home. He loved so incredibly hard, was not afraid to do the right thing or stick up for anyone, and he was the type of person you only meet once in a lifetime.

Jeremy Gabriel’s life will be celebrated at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road in Flint on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023. Visitation begins at 11:00am with the service following at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
