MAUCK (NICHOLS) Melonee DeLois – Of Grand Blanc, MI

On January 12, 2023, the treasure of our family, our mother, Melonee Mauck passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at Bristol Manor, Davison, MI. She was born in DeRidder, Louisiana, October 21, 1935 to the late Mark Hannah and Myrtie Mae (Smith) Nichols. She married William L. Mauck, February 19, 1955 and he preceded her in death, June 28, 2021. She was beloved by everyone.

From the age of 3, Melonee began singing with her three older sisters on the Sunday Morning Gospel Radio on Sunday mornings before church in her hometown of DeRidder. Her love of singing and playing piano remained her whole life.

Melonee graduated from DeRidder High School in 1953 and was employed at the DeRidder Bank until she married the love of her life, William “Lou” Mauck. In 1955, they eloped just after three dates and were married for 66 years. Together they directed church choirs across the United States and they used their musical talents for the glory of the Lord. Melonee with her high soprano voice, sang in many Choir Cantatas and sang as a featured soloist. They settled in the Flint area in 1967 and all three of their children graduated from Kearsley High School. Together, they owned ‘Genesee Fabrics’ stores in the Flint area and also in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Surviving are her 3 children, Canda (Brad) Rainwater of Grand Blanc, MI, Robin Kent (Raye Ann) Mauck of Arrington, TN and Tamela Larson of Murfreesboro, TN. Melonee had seven grandchildren she loved dearly, Nicholas Rainwater, Ryan (Katie)Rainwater, Landon (Brittany) Mauck, Megan (Michael) Hinson and Kelsey (Jonathan) Nance, Victoria (Brian) Barela, Vivian (Kevin) Oyler. Also, she had 16 great-grandchildren.

Melonee is also survived by her loving niece Rebekah Foster and nephews Ronnie, Rusty and Mark Foster of Texas. Many lifetime friends, Barb and Don Evans and dear loving friend, Betty Lamond. A special note of love to her caregivers at Bristol Manor, Natalie, Bobbie Jo and Nannette who cared for her daily.

Also, preceding her in death were her three sisters, whom she missed dearly, Marcelle Hinson, Wanda Foster and Cascille Stephens.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Friday, January 20th 2023 at 2:00 PM at Davison Assembly of God Church, 1234 S Gale Rd. Davison, MI. Officiated by Pastor Morris Moos and her son, Kent Mauck. Visitation will be 1:00 -2:00 prior to the service at the church.

Melonee with be interned to her final resting place next to her husband, William, in Nashville, TN at Christ Church Memorial Gardens. A visitation and graveside ceremony in Nashville, details will be forth coming.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Davison Assembly of God Music Department, Or “Life Care” for the care of US Veterans.

*Nashville TN ‘Celebration of Life’ In honor of Melonee Mauck a ‘Visitation Gathering’ will be held at Christ Church of Nashville, on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon located at: 15364 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN.

Graveside burial will begin approximately 12:15 PM in Christ Church Memorial Gardens located on the church grounds.
