Monica Rose Potasnik, age 88, of Grand Blanc and Warren, passed peacefully from her beloved home on June 27, 2022, to be received by our Lord Jesus Christ, whom she has known all her life and in whom she enjoyed unwavering faith, trust, and loving friendship.
Though she grieved to leave her earthly family and friends, she happily anticipated her reunion with Ted Potasnik, her loving husband to whom she remained devoted since he passed in 2011. Undoubtedly, Monica is welcomed by her parents, Eugene and Rose Vascil, son-in-law Alvin Robinson, and those family and friends who preceded her arrival in paradise and whom we all hold so dear.
Monica was born March 7, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated Washington Clay High School, Class of 1950. She and Ted were wed on April 7, 1956. Monica was the proud mother of Cathy (Bill) Keith, Michael (Noema) Potasnik, Nancy (Tom) Gabrielson, Andrew Potasnik, Mary (Kirk) Stucky, and Carol (Rick) Vidrio; loving nana to Jill Ridenour, Rachel Gabrielson, Ian Gabrielson, Silas Stucky, and Dayne Stucky; and great grandmother to Joshua Ridenour and Jackson Ridenour. Monica endured the devastating loss of Ted in May 2011.
Throughout her life, Monica enjoyed camping, gardening, baking, knitting, sewing, quilting blankets for children in local hospitals, and working in the spiritual care office at Genesys Hospital. Monica found solace and refuge at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was the President of the Mott High School Parent Booster Club in the late 1970's and worked in the Warren County Clerk's Office until retirement in 2005.
A visitation for Monica will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 3pm to 8pm at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan 48442.
