Leiner, Timothy Charles, most beloved brother of Gary Leiner and Pam (Leiner) Legutko, went to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Timothy was born on March 22, 1959, to loving parents, Charles and Doris (Kendall) Leiner, living most of his life in Flushing, Michigan. He thrived and flourished in a very devoted family he loved. They cared for him, loved him dearly, and provided many wonderful opportunities for him to experience a full and rewarding life.
Tim attended school through the programs at Genesee Intermediate School District and graduated at the age of 26 from the Elmer Knopf Learning Center. Tim’s parents encouraged him to learn sight reading which served him well for his love of books and typing on a computer. He participated in Special Olympics for many years and received medals and awards for wrestling and track & field. Tim worked at McDonald’s and at Village Florist in Flushing.
Tim loved to dance and sing to numerous kinds of songs, but his favorite was “Amazing Grace.” He was extremely fond of Elvis Presley and his music. He also had fun singing along with songs by Glen Campbell and Lionel Richie. Tim loved to attend camp each summer at Camp Copneconic where he was always the star of the talent show with his Elvis impersonation! Tim enjoyed wrestling shows, scary movies, and reading books, especially the Bible. He loved to go to the library followed by a “gourmet” meal at McDonald’s which always included a large Coke, no ice.
Traveling near and far was another important part of Tim’s life. He took vacations with family and friends to Hawaii, Florida, California, and Traverse City, among other locales. Tim’s graduation was celebrated with a special rail trip to Toronto. More recent trips included traveling to Chicago on Amtrak.
Tim was a gentle soul who radiated goodness and was loved and cherished by all who met him. He is survived by his brother, Gary and wife Nancy Ann Leiner; sister, Pam and husband Bob Legutko; nieces Jodi Leiner, Alexandra Smith (and husband Bradon), and Vanessa Legutko (and husband Ryan Pugh); great-niece Brianna (Leiner) LaRue; great-nephew, Beckett Smith, and great-niece, Stella Smith.
Tim will joyfully join his parents Charles and Doris, nephew, Jack Leiner, and great-niece, Madison Leiner in Heaven.
In memory of Tim Leiner, memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Avenue Mission 2210 N. Franklin Ave., Flint, 48506, Grace Hospice, 4444 W. Bristol Rd. Flint, 48507, or Family of God in Christ Ministry, 7354 Whittaker St. Detroit, 48209.
A private family memorial service and burial was held. Pastor Tyler Cronkright, a longtime friend from St. Stephen Lutheran Church (Detroit), presided over the celebration. |
