WALTERS, David William – of Burton, age 76, passed away July 27, 2021 at his residence. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. James Offrink and Pastor Robert D. Taylor officiating. Memorial Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Church of Christ, Outreach East or Charity of one’s choice.
David was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on September 20, 1944, son of the late Newton and Ginevra Walters. He married Lynette Kelush on October 9, 1981. Dave was a graduate of Lake Superior State College. He was employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint as Director of Volunteer Services for many years. Dave also worked in fundraising for Genesys Hospice and Genesys Regional Medical Center. In his younger days, Dave was a musician, playing professionally in bands that travelled around the United States. Dave was as an avid reader throughout his entire life. He was very compassionate, loved life and was interested in everyone’s story.
David is survived by his loving wife, Lynette; children, Christopher, Adrian (Cathy Rainey) and Andrew (Veronica); daughter-in-law, Luneza Walters; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Lynn Walters and Mary (Wendall) Bearden; sister-in-law, Karen Badgley; and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason and granddaughter, Brittany Walters. The family would like to give a special thank you to Compassus Hospice.
