ROLISON, Norman D. of Clio, age 81, died Monday, August 16, 2021, at his residence with family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 11am, on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Community Church of God in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, August 20, 2021, from 1pm until 8pm and at the church on Saturday from 10am until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Norm was born on January 24, 1940, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Melvin and Bertha (Hillier) Rolison. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1958 where he was involved in sports and music. Norm and his brother, Dale, assumed their parents' auto service station upon his graduation from high school. That is where he met the love of his life, Lennie Babcock. They were married on September 30, 1961. Once his parents retired, Norm and Lennie operated the motel. After many years, they decided to close the motel and he went into the construction business with his son, Chris.
Norm served as a member of the Michigan National Guard, was actively involved in his church and served on a variety of boards in the Clio area. He had a passion for Civil War history and genealogy, often attending historical society meetings in Ortonville, Flint and Clio. Norm, along with Lennie, attended Charlevoix Family Camp for over 30 years and he had been an active member of their Board of Trustees until the time of his passing. He enjoyed antiquing, hunting and fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are children: Chris (Lisa) Rolison, Linda Nelson, Dena (Benjamin) Johnson, Cheryl (Brett) Severance; grandchildren: Chris (Caitlyn) Rolison, Stacie Rolison, Tori Rolison, Dustin (Charity) Nelson, Kaitlin Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Jordyn Yats, Jaxson Severance; great-grandchildren: John Rolison and Lena Rolison; brother: Dale (Arlene) Rolison; sisters-in-law: Elaine Cottrell, Barbara Babcock, and Janet Tobias; several nieces, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by wife Lennie, son-in-law Bradley Nelson and parents Melvin and Bertha Rolison. Please sign our online guestbook or leave a condolence for the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
