BURRUS, Richard “Doc” - of Flint, Michigan, passed away at the age of 68 on March 31, 2023. Richard was born on July 26, 1954 to Robert & Marie (Kalanquin) Burrus. Richard was a lifelong resident of the Flint area, graduating from Kearsley High School in 1972. He went on to work at Buick and Arthur Treachers simultaneously, tirelessly working in his pursuit of becoming a chiropractor. Graduating in 1981 from Palmer College in Iowa, Dick obtained his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. After returning to Flint, he opened Genesee Chiropractic Clinic, treating countless patients for close to 40 years. “Doc” had an impeccable work ethic and thoroughly enjoyed serving his community. He was a member of the former Kearsley Rescue Squad and has served on the Genesee Township Board as a Trustee for 22 years.
Doc is survived by sons, Matthew, Ben (Samantha) and Michael (Mandy); sister, Wanetta Stephenson; sister-in-law, Carolyn; niece, Amy Anger; nephews, Jim, Jeff and Robby; as well as many other loving family members, countless friends and many others whom his unyielding service affected. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marie Burrus; brother, Bobby Burrus and brother-in-law, Jim Stephenson.
In Celebration of Dick’s Life, the family will receive visitors 11 AM-3 PM and 5-8 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2023 and 10-11 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home; Pastor Larry Survance officiating. Interment immediately following the service in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
