Delbert Edward Calhoun Sr. of Mundy Township, age 75, died Friday February 9, 2024 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Cremation has taken place; burial of cremains will be held later at Montrose Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will also be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Delbert was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on July 27, 1948, the son of late Lester and Harriet (Southern) Calhoun. Delbert graduated from Southwestern High School in 1966.
On April 26, 1996 he married Nancy Carr in Toledo Ohio.
Delbert loved bowling, bowled several 300 games, and went to State and National Tournaments. Delbert also loved being outdoors, camped for 27 years near Silver Lake Sand Dunes and also enjoyed visiting the casinos and playing the lottery.
Delbert was a Die Setter at Flint Metal Fab for 37 ½ years, retiring in 2004.
Delbert was a good father and grandfather. He was somewhat of a curmudgeon, but would do anything to help a friend in need.
Surviving is, wife Nancy; sister Alene Brenda Cook; children Christina (Dennis) Rush Jr., Delbert (Kaytlen) Calhoun Jr.; step-children David (Krystal) Carr and Sarah (Joseph) Youmans; 18 grandchildren Jordan, Alexis, Lilly, Brooklynn, Juliana, Hannah, Maksim, Jackson, Micah, Ava, Shiloh, William, Jonah, Leah, Jacob, Jesse, and one great-grandchild James.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Charles Cook.
