SEVO, Mary Theresa (LeClaire) – of Burton, MI, age 90, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Ascension Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, with her son and daughter at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant and Rev. Fr. Zachary Mabee con-celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-7 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, contributions to an educational fund for her three great-grandsons will be accepted, in the care of Timothy Sevo. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mary was born at St. Francis Hospital, Escanaba, Michigan, October 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Dona and Ada (Belanger) LeClaire. She was raised in Rock, Michigan, graduating from Rock High School, class of 1951. She was employed at St. Francis Hospital and Michigan Bell Telephone in Escanaba. Mary moved with her family to Flint, Michigan in November 1955. She worked at Michigan Bell, Central Wholesale Produce, and General Motors/Buick Motor Division as a switchboard operator. She also was a kindergarten teachers aide at St. Mary Catholic School in Flint from 1976-1984, and she ultimately retired from EDS/General Motors as a telephone operator on October 1, 1995. During retirement, she welcomed her beautiful granddaughters, Katie and Mary, whom she was so proud of. She was joined in marriage to Louis “Jim” Sevo at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Flint, Michigan, on November 27, 1965. Jim preceded her in death on January 17, 1984. Mary was a former longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Flint, and a current member of St. John the Evangelist, Davison. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary was deeply devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. She was truly loved by all.
Mary is survived by son, Timothy (Ann); daughter, Teresa (Adam); 2 granddaughters, Kathleen (Michael) and Mary Elizabeth (Logan); 3 great-grandsons, Patrick, Theodore “Teddy” and Collin; sister, Eunice (Carroll “Kelly”) Elledge; 2 sisters-in-law, Brenda LeClaire and Barbara LeClaire; grand dog, Clarice; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dona and Ada LeClaire; husband, Louis “Jim” Sevo; 4 brothers, Lionel, Bernard, Gerald, and Ralph LeClaire; 3 sisters-in-law, Lois, Dorothy, and Leta LeClaire; 3 nephews, Thomas, Stephen, and John LeClaire; and grand dog, Daisy.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Ascension Genesys 2nd floor Telemetry who lovingly cared for our mother in her final days.
We love and miss you, Mom and Grandma.
