Harold Foutch

Born: December 7, 1936 Died: May 10, 2023

Harold Foutch was born on December 7, 1936 in Alexandria, Tennessee to Lois and Robert Foutch. He passed on May 10, 2023 in Flint, Michigan at the age of 86. Harold moved to Burton, Michigan in 1952 and graduated from Bendle High School in 1955. Harold worked for Bell Telephone for many years and retired in 1988. Harold met his wife Darlene Pefley late in life and they were married on December 21, 2001. They both shared a love for dogs and enjoyed many vacations and trips to Florida. He was loving, loyal and her best friend.

Harold also known as “Uncle Harold” or “Foxy” was an original. Everyone knew him as a fun-loving, generous, wise-cracking guy who could deliver the best one-liners and send everyone into fits of laughter. Harold was a dog lover and had many dogs throughout his lifetime including Champ, Tundy, Daisy and Dee-Dee. He would always say, “You know, I can talk to dogs.” No dog was better taken care of than if they belonged to Harold. He loved dogs so much he wanted to share the joy and bought one for his niece Amanda for her 7th birthday. Bandit lived for 17 years and was like another family member.

Harold was also a sports fan, especially baseball. He loved to watch his brother, Roger Foutch’s Halo-Foutch Baseball Team, every summer at Broome Park in Flint. Harold never missed a game, always on his seat cushion with his Playmate cooler sitting next to his brother Ronnie in the stands. He also enjoyed the post-game celebrations under the tree, recapping the game with his brothers and the players. Harold was always the one to bring the refreshments and snacks to the after party!

One of Harold’s best roles was being an uncle. His nieces and nephews were always excited to spend time with Uncle Harold. If they were doing anything with Uncle Harold, it was sure to be a good time! Activities with Uncle Harold included trips to Cedar Point, weekend vacations up north, carnivals, and getting pizza at Mario’s. Uncle Harold loved to go on trips and was always sure to return with a fun souvenir! He was so generous with his time and support, always attending their high school and college sporting events. The thing they loved most about him though, was his sense of humor. His wit was so fast, he could take an ordinary moment and turn it into something hilarious with a one-liner. There are so many great ones over the years that are still talked about and will be forever. Memories with Uncle Harold have been retold over the years and will be forever treasured.

Harold is survived by his wife Darlene Foutch, his brothers, Billy Foutch and wife Sharon, Ronnie Foutch and wife Pam, Roger Foutch and wife Charlotte; nieces and nephews Mike and Mark July, Chucky and Randy Foutch, Brenda Green, Ricky Foutch, David Foutch, Amanda Foutch-Kolesar, Ashleigh Foutch, and Brad Foutch. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Foutch, mother Lois Foutch and brother Jerry Foutch and wife Sarah. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Greater Flint Area Baseball and Softball Association or the Genesee County Humane Society.
