VanHolder, Ronald L. - of Grand Blanc passed away at the age of 92 on Friday, February 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Ron will be interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery with a memorial service planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to: Human Society of Genesee County, Great Lakes National Cemetery, Boy Scouts of America or
Junior Achievement.
Ron was born in Flint, MI on May 5, 1929. He was married for 69 years to his beautiful wife, Joyce and raised two daughters.
Ron was proud of his service to his country during the Korean Conflict with the US Army in the capacity of Sergeant First Class. With a height of over 6’ he became an MP and later re-upped as a CID agent serving in California and Nevada.
He moved to Grand Blanc where he worked for General Motors Flint Engine plant in Personnel for 30 years. During his tenure he volunteered with The United Way and Junior Achievement.
In his free time Ron enjoyed working with his hands in carving, woodworking, painting and sculpture creating pieces treasured by friends and family. He also enjoyed golf and travel.
Ron is survived by his wife Joyce Marlene (Rohlfing), daughters Jacque (Mark) LaFreniere and Judy (Gary) Gratsch, grandsons Tommy (Kaylee) Gratsch, Cory (Sonja) Gratsch, and Dan Lafreniere, great grandchildren Sawyer, Theodore and Tyler as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents James Leroy and Inez Josephine (Millington) VanHolder, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
