Naomi J Basner, age 89, of AuGres, went home to be with her Lord on March 15, 2021. Naomi was born on February 25, 1932, in Flint, daughter of Lavern and Muriel (Cooper) Powell. She grew up in Montrose, started her family residing in Birch Run, and later retiring to East Tawas. Naomi was a great conversation starter and enjoyed talking with people. She loved crocheting; many hats and scarves were made with love by her hands. Over the years she wrote many poems and short stories, she put into a collection. Church, camping, and Senior Citizen group were some of the numerous things she enjoyed doing. She is survived by her daughters, Naomi (Tim) Stonehouse, Murial (Tom) Shalda; her sons, Harry Schultz, Vern Schultz; grand children, Mike Ragan, Mark Sager, Bambi Craig, Raymond Schultz, Clarence Zastrow, Roger Zastrow, Matt Zastrow, Amanda Zastrow, Jerry Schultz, Esther Schultz, Shana Schultz, Makayla Schultz, John Schultz, Frances Lier, Jerry Currie, Crystal Collier; brother, Gene (Arlene) Powell; step children: JoAnne Nalewyko, Darlene Livingston, Nelson Basner, Tom Basner, Robert Basner, David Basner, Randy Basner, Marvin Basner. Naomi is preceded in death by her parents; son, John Schultz; husbands, Harry Schultz, and Nelson Basner; sisters, Odessa Cutler, Inez Vantol, brothers, Jack Powell, Bob Powell; grandsons, Daniel Schultz, Wayne Schultz; son in law, Jerry “Bob” Currie; and a step son, Mark Basner. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
