FREEMAN, Frances Joann (Stearns) – of Flint, MI, age 75, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Monday, October 12, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Carl Simon celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Fran’s memory.
Fran was born in Flint, MI on November 22, 1944, daughter of the late Duane and Frances (Purcell) Stearns. She married Leonard Freeman on July 24, 1965 and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1970. Fran was employed with the American Red Cross, retiring in 2010 after 38 years of service. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and volunteered her time at McLaren Hospital in Flint, MI. Fran deeply loved spending time with her friends and family.
Fran is survived by her son, Thomas (Cheryl) Freeman; granddaughter, Tyler Ann; 3 brothers, Marvin (Joyce) Stearns, Bob Stearns and Garry Stearns; dear friend, Linda Walther; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Frances Stearns; her husband, Leonard Freeman; 2 brothers, James Stearns and Melzor “Bud” Stearns and sister-in-law, Joanne Stearns.
