Clara Sue Harris, 90, formerly of Millington, passed away in the care of family on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
Clara Sue Barrow was born on January 29, 1931 to parents Malcolm and Mary (Rogers) Barrow in Monette, Arkansas. She was raised alongside her three siblings, Norman, Marilyn, and Wava Lue. She graduated from Bendell High School with the class of 1948. While waitressing at the restaurant her family owned, she met Roy Harris. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 30, 1950. Together they shared 42 years of marriage, four sons, and countless memories.
She worked as a librarian and as a cashier for Hamady’s Grocery Store. Outside of work, Clara enjoyed sewing, knitting, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy! and taking care of several cats and dogs. Clara was a devout woman of faith and read the Bible often. Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family.
Those left to cherish Clara’s memory include her sons: Stephen (Linda) Harris, Randall Harris, Gregory Harris, and Bradley Harris; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Richardson; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Clara in death are her parents; husband, Roy Harris (d. 1992); sister, Wava Lue Dutonte; and brother, Norman Barrow.
The family will welcome the public to Hanlin Funeral Home (4823 Main St, Millington, MI 48746) on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services for Clara will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Hanlin Funeral Home. Visitation will begin 10 a.m. and last until the time of service at 11 a.m. Afterwards, Clara will be laid to rest next to her husband Roy in Millington Township Cemetery.
