KELLY, Betty J. (Bunzow) – of Davison, MI, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Frankfort, MI on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. The Mass will also be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/stjohndavison/. Interment immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 3-7 PM Wednesday, May 26, 2021 and 10 AM-12 PM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Betty to Benzie Senior Resources, 10542 Main Street, Honor, MI 49640, (https://benzieseniorresources.org).
Betty was born on August 21, 1930 in Saginaw, MI to parents, Edward and Agnes Bunzow. She worked at Lufkin Rule from 1950 to 1963. Betty met Howard Kelly, her lifetime dance partner, at Ravenna Gardens in Saginaw and married him on June 25, 1960. Betty and Howard moved to the Flint area, eventually settling in Davison. They raised their four children there until Howard’s passing on April 13, 1985. They were dedicated to their family, taking numerous vacations to visit relatives in and around Michigan and Ontario, Canada. One trip included a memorable three-week excursion to the Calgary Stampede in 1976. In 2013, Betty moved to Frankfort, MI. In 2019, she moved to Frankfort Pines Assisted Living, where she resided until her passing. Betty loved to sew, making clothes, Barbie doll dresses, and anything to support the military. She was a fabulous cook, renowned for her hearty meals, homemade jams, and many sweet treats, which she made daily.
Betty is survived by her four children, Steve (Pam) Kelly of Frankfort, MI; Tom Kelly (Cathy Kusman) of Colorado Springs, CO; Ann (Wayne) Dawe of Frankfort, MI and Mike Kelly (Denise Kenville) of Auburn Hills, MI; 6 grandchildren, Stacy, Stefan, Jarred, Christine, Alyssa and Breanna; 6 great-grandchildren, Jetta, Randall, Steven, Sydney, Eloise and Sebastian; 1 sister, Gerry; 1 brother, Dennis; 1 sister-in law, Harriet Bunzow; many relatives, and hundreds of great friends throughout Michigan and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Agnus Bunzow; husband Howard Kelly; 2 brothers, Edward and Norman; 2 sisters, Janet and Marilyn.
