ROTH, ROBERT CALVIN – of Fort Wayne, Indiana, age 98, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.
Funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W Hill Rd on Wednesday January 22 at 12 noon with viewing beginning at 11:00 am. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Bob was born in Flint, MI on August 4, 1926 and was the son of the late Albert and Ruth Roth. Bob married Donna Powers on September 20, 1952. Bob worked at Buick Motor Division in Personnel and Labor Relations for 29 years.
Upon graduation from High School Bob went into the Army, serving in World War II. When the war ended, Bob earned his degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Bob was a life-long fan of U of M. He served his community through his lifetime membership in the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan and was recognized for his half century in the Masons in 2022. He enjoyed his favorite pastime of golf for over 50 years.
Bob is deeply appreciated by his family for his care of Donna until she passed away in 2010.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother Donald. He is survived by his 2 children, Diane and husband Professor August Grant of Columbia, SC, and Robert A. and wife Sheryl Roth of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandchildren Sean Roth and Geena Roth, both of Los Angeles, CA; a step-grandson Ryan Kildee of Gaylord, MI; brother-in-law David Powers and wife Kathy; many nieces and nephews; friends and staff at Coventry Meadows of Fort Wayne, IN.
