John J. Freeman, a hard-working resident of Atlas, Michigan, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on December 14, 1937, John was known for his dedication and commitment to his community and interests.
John was active in the Boy Scouts and served on the Goodrich School Board. He was a celebrated snowmobile racer, winning the State Championship in 1974. His career spanned thirty-six years at the Genesee County Road Commission. He was a well known grader operator to the Superintendent of the sign shop and from there to Director of Maintenance before retiring.
In his personal life, John was an excellent handyman, known for building fireplaces and decks for friends and helping anyone who needed it. He was also skilled in kitchen and bathroom remodeling and continued to work well into his mid-80s. A passionate fan of Michigan basketball and football. John cherished his daily lunches with his buddies Bob Bouck, Ricky Bouck, and Bob Hillier. Also greatly appreciated the lifelong years of friendship with Bob Bouvier, Joel Stinson, the Hempton family and many others. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors. John will be remembered for his hardwork and love for his family and friends.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Crystal; children Tony (Christine) Freeman, Kelly Freeman and Chris Freeman; grandchildren Amber (Brandon) Tucker, Aisha Carriero; great-grandchildren Marrissa, Natalia and Alexis; great-great grandson Keidan; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for John will be held at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan, on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. John will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Davison, Michigan.
