SMITH, SANDRA MAE Of Grand Blanc, age 84, passed away Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Sandra Mae (Howell) Smith was born to Peter B. and Ella Mae (Trombly) Howell on August 6, 1938. She attended Carman School District K thru 12, graduating from Robert N. Mandeville High School in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart, Hershel Smith on June 29, 1957 at St. Matthews Church in Flint. The Smith’s went on to have five boys they raised in their Grand Blanc home. Sandra was a home room mother and member of the Athletic Boosters over the years her sons attended Lake Fenton Schools.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and also had a small cake decorating business. She was very proud of her cake making artistry. She worked at Rubber Ducky Daycare for 10 years. Sandra enjoyed attending her sons and grandchildrens sporting events, reading, crochet and crafts, gardening, watching Michigan and Lions football along with Detroit Tiger baseball.
She leaves behind sons, Brad (Patty),
Greg (Canice),
Gary (Susan) and
Brian (Lisa);
grandchildren, Nichole, Gregory, John, Chris, Chad, Troy, Drew, Kyle, Shane, Matthew, Katie and Harrison;;
great-grandchildren, Gavin, Elizabeth, Nora, Vera, Sybil, Gregory, Finley, Joseph Bradley and Emersyn.
She also leaves behind a brother, Clayton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel and son, Jeffrey.
Special thank you to her long time physician, Dr. Debra Duncan; the Brookdale staff, the Care Team staff and her close friends, the Graytrax Girls (Sandy, Wanda and Bonnie).
Sandra was a breast cancer survivor. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
