Jack C. Somers of Davison, age 72, died Sunday March 7, 2021 at Willowbrook Manor. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Monday March 15, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison, Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski, Celebrant, burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1 – 5 pm Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Somers will lie in state at the church from 11:00 am Monday until time of service. CDC Guidelines will be followed during the visitation and funeral services. Those desiring may make contributions in Jack’s memory to the Davison-Richfield Fire Association.
Jack was born in Flint Michigan on March 28, 1948 the son of the late Gordon E. & Margaret E. (Nemeskal) Somers, and has resided in the Davison area since 1971.He was joined in marriage to Connie Newcombe on January 25, 1975 in Davison. Answering the call of his Country Jack proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a 1967 Graduate of Flint Northwestern High School, and member of Davison IOOF Lodge. Jack proudly served his community for over twenty-three years with the Davison-Richfield Fire Department and was Fire Chief from 1994 until 1999. Jack also was the EMS Manger for Raysin Funeral Home and Ambulance during the early 1970’s. His ability to serve those around him also was recognized in the funeral industry where he was employed by Brown Funeral Home, Raysin Funeral Home, Allen Funeral Home and Hansen Funeral Home during his life. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and had been employed by General Motors Chevrolet Division for over thirty years until his retirement.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-six years Connie, his children; Todd and wife Kristina, and Corey and wife Helena Somers. He also leaves his loving grandchildren; Abbey, Blake, Kelsey, Keagen, Piper, Lilly, brother Gary and wife Jane Somers and a host of extended family. He is preceded in death by nephew Steven Somers.
