Linda Gayle Wood, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Vernon on November 11, 2023. Born in Opelika, Alabama on September 29, 1946, to the late Robert L. and Dorothy Blanche (Craddock) Freeman, Linda was a beacon of love and creativity throughout her life.

Linda graduated from Milford High School in 1964 and embarked on a lifelong journey of service and dedication to her community. She served as the Deputy Clerk for the Village of Vernon, bringing her warmth and efficiency to the role. On June 22, 1966, she married the love of her life, Winfred Neal Wood, in Flint, Michigan. Their bond of love and companionship lasted an impressive 57 years.

Linda was a woman of many interests and talents. She was a lifelong quilter who preferred to quilt by hand, creating beautiful, intricate pieces that were cherished by all who received them. She enjoyed shopping trips with her granddaughters, bowling in her younger years, and was an avid viewer of the Hallmark and Lifetime channels. Linda was also a fantastic cook and loved to share her recipes with others. She had a penchant for dining out and was always eager to try new restaurants. She was a long time devoted member of Risen Life Church of Durand; former "Faith Baptist Church of Durand,” she especially enjoyed Ladies Night at the church on a monthly basis. She was a faithful member of TOPS and enjoyed lunches with the ladies on a weekly basis.

Never one to sit idle, Linda was always busy with a project or activity. She loved having coffee with her friends and was known for her bright smile that could light up any room. Her love for life and the people in it was evident in everything she did.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Neal, and their two sons, Steven (Kristina) Wood and Michael (Kimberly) Wood. She was a cherished grandmother to Nichole (Joseph) LeCureux and Emily Wood, and a doting great-grandmother to Jaxon and Lyla LeCureux. Linda is also survived by her sister, Sandy Tester, her sister by choice, Nancy Kline, and her nieces, Jennifer (Mark) Schmidlin and Sharrie Price. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Shirley, and her brother Larry.

Linda's legacy of love, creativity, and dedication will live on through her family and the many lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished, and her life celebrated for the remarkable woman she was.
