Nielson, William “Bill” – of Clio, formerly of Otisville, age76, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church - 520 Butler St, in Clio with full military honors. Pastor Erik Cloeter to officiate. The family will receive visitors on Friday at Church from 11AM until 7PM and on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Messiah Lutheran Church.
Bill was born May 29, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Art and Hazel (Clark) Nielson. He attended Lakeville High School, graduating with the class of 1965. Bill married Dorlene Daniels on August 16, 1969. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving his county from 1966-1968. Bill worked for General Motors as a carpenter for 38 years. He was an avid member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and playing a good game of golf. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend who will be missed by many.
Surviving are: Wife of 54 years, Dorlene Nielson; Children: Ryan (Amy) Nielson, and Kristy (Jeremy) Amy; Grandchildren: Tristan Nielson, William Nielson II, Alexandria Claveau, Sara Minard, Nate (Brittney) Amy, Bray Amy, Blake Amy, and Makenzie (Shane) Hatton; He was blessed with 6 great grandchildren; Brothers: Ron (Shirley) Nielson, Doug (Yvonne) Nielson; Sisters: Kay (Doug) Alderson, Debbie (Matt) Bryant; Sister-In-Law, Barb Nielson; Several nieces and nephews.
