He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and extended family members; who were cherished and held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Sefa Kasem-Dow, father Amin Kasem, brother Kemal (Casey) Kasem, and son Daniel Jarve.
Born on October 18, 1935, in Detroit, Mouner attended Cass Tech High School, where he laid the foundation for a wonderful and inspiring life. After completing his education, he embarked on a career at General Motors, where his dedication and commitment propelled him to the position of supervisor at the Flint Chevrolet Manufacturing Plant. Mouner's work ethic and leadership skills served as an inspiration to those around him.
Mouner's entrepreneurial spirit was instilled in him at an early age while working in his family’s store as a butcher. This entrepreneurial spirit continued throughout his life, and he made a lasting impact in the community he called home. One of his notable ventures was the establishment of Rizzo's Pizza, a beloved pizzeria in Flint, Michigan.
While Mouner poured his heart into his work, his true happiness was found in his passions outside the professional realm. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved baseball since he was a kid and followed the Detroit Tigers with his brother even though they lived miles apart.
In the off season, he wholeheartedly supported the University of Michigan's football and basketball teams. The exhilaration of game day filled his spirit, and he reveled in the triumphs and challenges his favorite teams faced. However, it was the game of golf that captured his heart. In retirement, Mouner embraced the opportunity to spend countless summer days golfing alongside his lifelong friends and cherished family members.
When not golfing in the summer he loved playing poker with family and friends. With a friendly wager on the line, Mouner engaged in spirited games that brought people together, creating lasting memories. His calculated approach to the game and his ability to read his opponents made him a formidable player, but it was the joy of shared experiences that he cherished most.
In addition to poker, Mouner had a deep passion for the game of chess. He appreciated the intellectual rigor and strategic thinking required to excel at chess. Whether engaging in friendly matches or studying the intricacies of the game, he found solace and fulfillment in the strategic maneuvers and the mental challenges it presented.
Mouner's love for calculated risks and strategic games mirrored his approach to life. He possessed a sharp mind, a keen eye for opportunity, and the ability to make informed decisions. These qualities not only contributed to his success as an entrepreneur but also enriched his interactions with family and friends.
Mouner Amin Kasem will be remembered as a kind and loving family man, entrepreneur, and someone with a great passion for life. He was always positive and ready with his catch phrase of “Good Show” when you did something well. His enduring spirit, infectious smile, and warm heart touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible life he led and the memories he created.
Mouner is survived by his loving family and friends who will carry his legacy in their hearts. May his soul find eternal rest, and may we find solace in the memories of the joy and love he shared with us.
