Dr. William G. Craig of Flushing, age 93, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at his home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church, G-3415 W. Pierson Road, Flint. Rev. John Price will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church or Home & Hospice Advantage.
Dr. Craig was born in Youngstown, OH on March 20, 1920, the son of Ira B. and Finis O. (Sayre) Craig. He married Ila May Witteman in Spring Arbor, MI on June 1, 1943. She preceded him in death in 1995. He married Betty (Lamay) Rose in Clio, MI in August 1996. She preceded him in death in 2003.
Dr. Craig served in the U.S. Medical Corp from 1954-1956. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1944 and was an Obstetrician in Genesee County from 1946 until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church and the Genesee County Medical Society.
Dr. Craig is survived by: his three children, William, Jr. (Marie) Craig of Henderson, NC, Brent (Janet) Craig of Gladwin, MI, Beth (Verlin) Morningstar of Flushing; five grandchildren, William III (Anne) Craig, Heather (Chris) Hill, Matt Heimberger, Dan Heimberger, Nate Craig; and several great-grandchildren.
