Ronald C. Rushton- age 67 of Clio, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, after a five-month battle with Glioblastoma, a rare and lethal form of brain cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM, Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors on Monday from 4PM until 8PM and, Tuesday from 10AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, all contributions to the family will be donated to the Genesys/ Hurley Cancer Center.
Ron graduated from Clio High School in 1972 and remained active in the community until his death. He was hired in at GM Truck & Bus in 1973, beginning in the paint department and retiring as an essential piece of the Flint Assembly Plant Future Products / Launch Team. After retirement, he drove school buses for Clio Area Schools and coached baseball. The life he lived – and led – spoke for itself. As a beloved husband, son, father, friend, mentor, and role model, his reach and influence on those around him was vast and significant.
The family wishes to thank his physician Dr. Siva Sankaran, the nurses in the ER and Oncology departments at Hurley Medical Center, the inspiring expertise and hope offered to them by everyone involved at the Genesys / Hurley Cancer Center – especially Dr. Paul Kocheril and Dr. Rizwan Danish - and the care they received at the end from Heart-to-Heart Hospice.
Ron is survived by his wife - of 48 years - Joyce; their son Brandon (Mara) Rushton; his father Carl Rushton; his sisters Julie Rushton and Barb (Craig) Stephen; his sister-in-law Lu (Loralei) Hatfield; his nephews Blake Stephen and Zach (Cassie) Hatfield; and his niece Morgan (Chris) Hatfield.
