Jennifer K. Stein

Born: 1/13/1967
Died: 7/28/2023
Age: 56
Community: Birch Run, MI

Strong. Independent. Full of life and laughter. She lived life on her own terms, and in her own way. Jennifer Stein passed in her sleep on July 28th after fighting diabetes for over 30 years.

Jennifer was born on Friday, January 13th in 1967, to her parents Cheryl (Ross) Hadsall and Tim Stein. She was raised and lived most of her life in Birch Run.

Family was everything to Jennifer, especially her best friend/niece Astana. Adding a new dimension to the many roles she played in her family, Jennifer (aka Jiff/Jiffy/Keke) wanted to be the best aunt ever!

Jennifer is survived by her mother Cheryl Hadsall, father Tim Stein (Sharon), sister Trisha Stein, brother-in-law Mark Gaffney, Aunt Diane Ross Moody, Uncle Tom and Aunt Mary Ross, Aunt Tina and Uncle Bill Klein, nephew Brad Gaffney (Holly), nieces Ellen and Astana Gaffney, cousins Paula Blessing (Ben), Shaun Green, Kasey Klein, Jason Ross (Jessica Haubenstricker), Julie McGrath (David), Brian Parlato (Alicia), Vanessa Ross, Robbie Ross (Rachel), and many children that add to the livelihood and laughter at family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Huntz and Betty Ross, Katherine Fisher; Uncle Bob; Aunt Susann Gundry; Aunt Kathy Stein; and cousins Kristina Somers and Norma Sue Crain.

Besides her family, Jennifer had many loves and interests. Her lifelong idol was Princess Di. She was an avid sports fan. Her two favorite players were Detroit Tiger Kirk Gibson and University of Michigan basketball player Jordan Poole. Both of whom she had an opportunity to meet. Having learned at an early age from her grandmother, Betty Ross, Jennifer loved tackling new and old recipes. She created a cookbook collection of family recipes, which was very helpful in enabling the Ross-family tradition of never ending a meal without planning the next one!

Additionally, she enjoyed gardening; reading; music, attending many concerts of all-time greats starting with Barry Gibb at Pine Knob, Prince, Luther Vandross, Beach Boys, Toni Braxton, New Edition, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Matchbox Twenty, Diana Ross and the ultimate highlight of taking her grandmother to see Cher! Her circle of friends was vast and wide. By last count she was in over a dozen wedding parties! Everyone wanted Jennifer’s energy and excitement to be around them on their big day.

Jennifer attended Birch Run High School and Northwood University. She was a cheerleader, cheering on the Panthers and Northmen in both basketball and football. Jennifer was a fierce supporter of her alma mater, serving on the board of the Birch Run Class of 64 & Alumni Scholarship Foundation, which has donated over $400,000 to graduating students to continue their education.

Party planning was Jennifer’s superpower. Her family will do their best to honor her at a visitation, service and luncheon this week. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2nd from 2:00-8:00pm and Thursday, August 3rd from 11:00am-1:00pm at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. On Thursday, August 3rd there will be a celebration of life service at 1:00pm at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home, and lunch to follow at the Clio Eagles. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Birch Run Class of 64 & Alumni Scholarship Foundation (Venmo @classof64). Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
