HANEL, Marian C. – Of Burton, age 96, passed away January 3, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be held 1pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 3-7pm Tuesday and 12 Noon Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Marian was born in Burton, Michigan on October 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Harold and Vera (Buerger) Gray. On September 1, 1951, she married Robert V. Hanel in Burton. Marian was employed at Gerry Fauth Insurance for 30 years and then was employed for another 30 years at Al Bourdeau Insurance, retiring at the age of 88. Marian loved her family and loved to laugh. She loved to dance and took up tap dancing at 70 years old. She also loved big band music, and loved listening to Frank Sinatra.
Surviving are children, Robert Hanel, Carol (Randy) Haney and Doug (Wendy) Hanel;
Grandchildren, Brent Hanel, Chelsea Hanel, Hillary Rose, Douglas Hanel and Scott Haney;
And several great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and sisters, Kathleen Forshee and Helen Woody.
