Elaine Scudder Poindexter, 94, of Midland, died Saturday night, July 16, 2022, at My Michigan Medical Center Alma. She
was born on March 02, 1928, in Lansing, Ml, the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys (Gary) Scudder.
She married John Robert Poindexter in June of 1950. They were married 48 years. He predeceased her in 1998.Elaine
graduated from Pensacola High and Business School, Pensacola, Fla. She worked for Saufley Naval Air Base & Elebash
Jewelry in Pensacola. She worked at Michigan Chemical Co. in St. Louis, MI, while John was at Alma College
She was an active member at First Baptist Church Midland, and a Stephen Minister. She was a member of Daughters of
the American Revolution, Daughters of the Union, Midland County Historical Society, Scudder Association, Poindexter
Descendents Association, North Homer Jrs. Home Extension, Cub Scout Den Mother 9 years, Campfire Leader 11 years,
Foster Parent. Special interest in Family research and Great Lakes Lighthouses.
Surviving are her children, Gary and Becky Poindexter of Dickinson, TX, Anne Poindexter of Midland, Ml, Mary Parsons of
Wheeler, Ml, Vicki and Matt Philips TX, Shelly Lopp of Detroit, Ml, Cynthia Combs and Andrew of Detroit, Ml Also
surviving are her Grandchildren Bethany and Robert, Jonathan and Nina, Nichole, Christopher and Jackie, Heather, Faith,
Brett, Blaine, Blair, Tawny, Grace, Patricia, Leon, Brittany, Jacklyn, Brandon, Andrew, Randy, Carl. She had 24 Great-
Grandchildren and her faithful companion, Bear. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, her husband and son Larry.
Her sister Vaunda (Earl) Gibson.
Services will take place 11:00 am Saturday, July 30 at the First Baptist Church Midland Corner E Sugnet Rd &
Washington St. Rev. Lara Escoffre will officiate. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider First
Baptist Church. |
