EARNEST, JAMES D. – Of Flint, age 77, died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at McLaren-Flint.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
James was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1946, the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Toth) Earnest.
On September 3, 1964 he married his middle school sweetheart, Cheryl Underwood in Flint.
James worked and retired from GM V-8 Engine Plant and owned Affordable Taxidermy for many years.
He loved traveling; was a passionate conservationist and traveling outdoorsman; loved hunting and fishing. James enjoyed sports, both college and professional.
He was a diehard Red Wing and Spartan fan.
Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are three children, Mary (Greg) Sabo,
Jamie Earnest and Dustin (Mike Talcot) Underwood;
grandchildren, Logan (Amanda Harvey) Nelson and Courtney Sabo;
great-grandchildren, Carter Lowe and Cameron Schumacher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl.
