Tillie Ann was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 25, 1935, the daughter of the late Franklin and Luella (Londo) Pettengill. She married the love of her life, Jim Kotsko, on August 28, 1954. Together, they built a loving family and shared many wonderful memories until his passing on March 21, 2009. Tillie Ann retired from the Flint Journal after many years of dedicated service. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was the loving home she created for her seven children. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, always putting their needs before her own. She was the kind of mother who would gladly go without so that her children could have what they needed, giving of herself in countless ways throughout their lives. She remained active and involved with her children and grandchildren and took great pride in the people they became. Deeply devoted to her faith, Tillie Ann was a faithful member of the “God’s Healing Love” and Corpus Christi prayer groups. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she lived as a faithful servant with a heart devoted to God and others. One of the special experiences of her life was traveling to Rome to see the Pope. Tillie Ann also treasured the friendships she had made throughout her life. For more than 50 years, she enjoyed attending Canasta card club with her high school friends, sharing laughter, stories, and countless cherished memories. She had a creative side as well and enjoyed drawing. Those who knew her will remember her intelligence, loving and caring nature, and especially her silly sense of humor that could bring a smile to those around her. Tillie Ann lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and selfless love. She gave generously of herself, always making sure those she loved were cared for. Her children and family were her greatest joy, and her memory will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tillie Ann is survived by her loving children: John Jr. (Linda) Kotsko, Richard (Dawn) Kotsko, David Kotsko, Daniel (Tammy) Kotsko, Diane (Matt) Dudzik, Lisa Densmore, and Ellen (Geoff) Wright, grandchildren: Anthony, Amanda, Adam, Hannah, Kielii, Kaleb (Allison), Karlee (Seth), Evan, Erica (Alex), Sarah, Kendall (Casey), Nickolas (Avery), Brennan, Aaron (Trenton), Jay (Riley), Rachel, Scott (Heather), Brent (Amy), Sara, Hailee (Chris), and Alec; 12 great grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, twin brother, Richard Pettengill, brother, Bill Pettengill, sisters Betty Cummins and Judy (Murney) Bell, and great grandson, Oliver Parker.
