He spent the first part of his childhood in Detroit Michigan living in “Parkside”, a housing project along with his two older brothers, Joseph Albert and Gary John. The family later moved to Madison Heights, Michigan where Al lived until he graduated high school and married the love of his life, Terri-Sue Griffith, in 1964. He worked at the Ford Motor Company-Wixom Lake plant for several years as a spot welder before joining the Royal Oak Police Department as a patrolman in 1966. Al moved his family to Ortonville, Michigan in 1970 and in 1977, surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. Shortly thereafter, he led his wife, Terri, and their three children, Jeffrey Michael, Michael Adam and Jennifer Mary to the Lord. Al and his family joined Ortonville Baptist Church where they were active members. In 1985, Al’s second daughter, Carmelle Susan was born and they moved to Flint, Michigan where he began a 33 year chapter of jail ministry with Forgotten Man Ministries in the Genesee County Jail, culminating in his retirement in 2018 at the age of 73. Al wrote and published his autobiography, “Chasing Intimacy” on March 25, 2022, in which he detailed his spiritual journey toward knowing God his Father in a much deeper and more intimate way.
