Dorothy Anne Hiscock (Gaus), went to be home with her Lord and savior on June 22, 2026 . She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 4, 1932 to Alex Sr. and Mary Gaus (Loose).
She attended Garfield Elementary, Emerson Junior High and graduated from Northern High School, class of 1951. After graduation, she worked in the family business, Gaus and Sons.
Dorothy married William Reid Hiscock on April 16, 1955, upon his return from serving in the Korean War. Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom until her three children became of school age and then began working for General Motors at AC Spark Plug and later at GM’s Service Parts Organization in Swartz Creek. She specialized in Labor Relations and Supervisor of Hourly Personnel. Upon retiring from General Motors, Dorothy worked as a secretary at North Baptist Church.
She was always active in church and bible studies beginning at First Reformed Church where she taught Sunday School as a teen. Upon marriage, she attended North Baptist Church, and later in life, attended Peace Presbyterian Church. She frequently taught bible studies and loved being a part of Ladies Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
Dorothy was a tremendous hostess, opening her home to many gatherings including church and work groups and the North Baptist Choir, where her husband, Bill, was the minister of music for 19 years. She also hosted many gatherings for the Gaus extended family.
Dorothy adored her children, grandchildren and great granddaughters, always encouraging them and praying for them. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Woodhaven Senior Assisted Living and the many new friends she met there over the last couple of years that took such great care of her. We’d also like to give special thanks to Ashley from hospice care who went above and beyond the call of duty and took such loving care of Dorothy near the end of her life.
