POOCK, David William - age 76, of Flint, died October 14, 2020. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, October 19, 2020 at Higher Praise Pentecostal Church of God, 4060 Grand Blanc Rd, Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Pastor Don Dennis officiating. Visitation will be held 11 AM - 2 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice or Higher Praise Pentecostal Church of God. David was born June 27, 1944 in Waterloo, IA, the son of Arnold and Gertrude (Griese) Poock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during Vietnam. David earned his Bachelor's degree, Masters degree and PhD from Iowa State University. He married Betty J. Kemp Birofka in 1985. David was a professor at Kettering University for 27 years and served as the Chairman of the Industrial Engineering Department and the Business Department for a short time. He also taught at Davenport University and Northwood University. He was a beloved professor wherever he taught and was loved by all who knew him. David was a dedicated Christian and member of Higher Praise Pentecostal Church of God. Surviving are: wife, Betty Poock; sister, Gloria (Marv) Westendorf; six nephews, Timothy (Darlene), Michael (Tammy), Dennis (Deb), Kevin (Dawn), Joel, and Randy (Nicki) Everding, all of Iowa; son, Joseph (Tara) Esposito of NJ; grandchildren, Brittney (Greg) Kilm and Joey Esposito; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Sienna; Many dear friends and church family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ramonda Poock. Arrangements by: Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc 48507.
