Elder Willie Mae Bacon was born to the union of Charlie Alvin Watkins and Lottie Bell Towns on October 3, 1934, in Tippo, Mississippi. Funeral service will be held 11 am, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E Carpenter Rd, Flint, MI 48505. Family hour will begin 10 am at the church. Family will receive visitors from 12-4pm Friday, July 28, 2023 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Burial in Lovedale Cemetery. Pastor L. Veotis Jones officiating. She was a retired Executive Chef and enjoyed cooking for family and friends and made sure everyone had a plate to take home. She enjoyed watching The Word Network, Family Feud, and listening to WFLT
Elder Bacon loved New Jerusalem and was overseer of Wednesday Mission, Chaplain of The Inspirational Voices, Taught Sunday School, and worked in Children's Church.
Elder Bacon loved evangelism and was involved in Bible study services at Garden View Manor, jail ministry, Regional Detention Center, Forgotten Man Ministry, Prayer Chain Day, Adopt A Street, and many more. One of her favorite Bible verses was, “We can’t always see where the road leads, but God promises there’s something better up ahead, we just have to trust Him. Psalm 56:3
Elder Bacon was a prayer warrior, very caring, giving, kind woman of God who truly loved the Lord and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elder Bacon leaves to cherish her memory: loving daughter Vercy Jones, son in law Pastor Veotis Jones, Granddaughter Tina Jones of Plano Texas, Great grandson Erik Arroyo, great granddaughter Nathalie Brown of Plano Texas, grandson Lance Sweezer, great granddaughter Sophia Sweezer of Kent Washington, sister Lillie Mae Jernigan of Dowagiac Michigan, sister Victoria (husband Bernard) Roberts of Niles Michigan, brother Timothy Ray Shaw of Jenison Michigan, cousin Carolyn Tarpley of South Bend Indiana, Nephew John Bacon of Phoenix Arizona, Niece Nellie Bacon of Flint Michigan, Jessie Mae and all relatives of Saginaw.
Elder Bacon was preceded in death by her husband Deacon louis bacon, daughter Linda Sweezer, granddaughter Sonya Sweezer, sister Nanette Watkins, and brother-in-law James Jernigan. |
