KEENE Larry E. - age 75, of Swartz Creek, passed away, August 6, 2023. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, August 11, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Rev. Larry Gill officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held from 5-9 PM Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday, and 12 PM - 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Swartz Creek Community Schools Athletic Booster (www.scathleticboosters.com). Larry was born March 13, 1948 in Richlands, VA, the son of Harry and Fonda (Brown) Keene. He married Paula "Gale" Kanupp and they have shared life together for 50 years and 4 months. Larry always got the last two word in their marriage, "yes, dear". He retired from General Motors after 42 years of service in 2008 where he was the Die Room Leader. Larry was very active in Swartz Creek Athletics, he was the scorekeeper for Varsity Football, Varsity Basketball and Girls Varity Softball for many years and he was active in coaching his children in sports. Larry was a very devoted husband, father and papa. He traveling, visiting casinos and playing Texas Hold'em and Ultimate Texas Hold'em. In his younger years he was involved in drag racing and after retirement he and Gale traveled the country on a motorcycle. Surviving are: wife, Gale of Swartz Creek; two children, Bill (Liz) Keene of Spartanburg, SC, Colleen (Tom) Day of Pinedale, WY; four grandchildren, Shelton and Spenser Keene and Tommy and Delaney Day; one great-grandchild on the way; brother, Bob Keene of Swartz Creek; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
