MERRELL, Karen Jane (Koster) – of Linden, MI, formerly of Burton, MI, age 80, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020. A Private Graveside Service was held at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesee County Humane Society in Karen’s memory.
Karen was born in Grand Rapids, MI on October 12, 1940, daughter of the late Richard and Barbara (Weisenburger) Koster. She married James Merrell on May 14, 1960 in Grand Rapids, MI and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2008. Karen worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for St Joseph Hospital for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling, time with her family, and volunteering. Karen cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
Karen is survived by 3 children, Kim Wilcox, Eileen (Dan) Lafferty and Richard (Jenelle) Merrell; 6 grandchildren, Karey (Jeramy), Maddie (Evan), Jack, Courtney (Jason), Carter and Cadeyn; 3 great-grandchildren, Madison, Teagan, and Abigail; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Barbara Koster, sister, Gerri Koster and her husband, James R. Merrell. The family would like to thank the staff at the Argentine Care Center for their compassionate care.
