HETHERINGTON, Max “Mick” William - of Grand Blanc, MI, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Grand Blanc Fields Assisted Living in Grand Blanc, MI. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Judson Baptist Church, 4471 East Atherton Road, Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Greg Rowan officiating. Private interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Judson Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association chapter of your choice.
Mick was born in Gladwin, MI on December 3, 1936, son of the late Arthur and Mary (Armstrong) Hetherington. He was a graduate of Gladwin High School Class of 1956. In high school, he enjoyed playing football and baseball, where he was known as “Gladwin’s Mickey.” After graduation, he served 6 years in the Michigan National Guard. Mick retired as a machinist and tool and die maker for General Motors after 37 years of service. In 1967, he married Arlene Miron in Grand Blanc, MI. Mick and Arlene retired to Hendersonville, North Carolina where Mick enjoyed golfing, exercising and teaching Bible Study at his church.
Mick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene Hetherington; daughter, Debra (Rob) Palmer; son, Ronald (Dawn) Hetherington; 5 step-children, Karen (Peter) Ng, Vicki (Frank) Lauhoff, Jacqueline (Bruce) Dennis, William (Gina) Miron and Robert (Pam) Miron; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Browne of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Irene Lennon of Centennial, CO; 2 brothers, Don Hetherington of Gladwin, MI and Pat Hetherington of Thousand Oaks, CA; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Mary Hetherington; 2 sisters, Marilyn Bastian and Leona Shelton; brother, Art Hetherington and step-daughter, Sandy Setchfield.
