Virginia “Ginny” Marie July, from Clio, Michigan, age 82, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, March 29,2024 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26,2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1110 Saginaw St., Mt. Morris, Michigan. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 in the church.
Father Roy Horning will celebrate the Mass. Graveside service to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Ginny was born on November 4, 1941 in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Kenneth Raymond and Hazel Lake. She was raised in Flint, graduated from St. Mary's, Flint, and attended Baker Business School for the Executive Secretary Course. Ginny married Donald July on September 29, 1962. The marriage was blessed with three sons, Donald Jr, Timothy, and Christopher. She excelled as a homemaker for her family and devoted herself full time to raising her sons until her husband fell ill. She promptly went to
work to support the family. She worked for 32 years at the University of Michigan Flint before she retired. While working at Michigan Flint, she created a structure for routine Red Cross blood drives. During the latter part of her career, Ginny was an administrative assistant in the Student Involvement and Leadership Dept. The Virginia M. July, U of M
Student Contribution Award was created in her honor.
She bravely bore many sufferings in her life, including cancer. Her success in fighting cancer led her to participate in many cancer walks. Ginny was a strong and courageous woman who sacrificed routinely for her family and triumphed over extreme adversity.
Ginny is survived by her sons, Tim (Theresa) and Chris; grandchildren, Brandon (Trisha) Larkin and Jessica July; and great-grandson, Ian Larkin. Survivors also include dear Friends, Rita Blower and Albreeta Kaigler; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Donald July Sr.; son, Donald July Jr.; grandson, Christopher July Jr.; brothers, Kenneth Lake and Joseph (Tom) Lake; sisters-in-law, Norma Lake and Marcia Lake; and nephew, Richard Lake.
