Margaret Joy Waibel, 86, thirty plus year resident of Otisville formerly of Fostoria, died Friday April 28, 2023. She was born October 1, 1936 in Attica to parents Leon and Emily (Gordon) Foot.
Ms. Waibel worked many years as a Registered Nurse for the former Oakdale State Home, Lapeer, retired officially in the early ‘90’s, after twenty years. In her day, she enjoyed riding bikes, playing softball, an eclectic mix of music, dancing, and baking. Margaret always said, ‘she grew up in the golden age of America,’ she wished children could still be worry free. She was a talented seamstress; from sewing beautiful dresses for her granddaughters, to knitting, crochet, tatting and especially embroidery. Ms. Waibel also spent time reading, flower gardening, enjoying flowers and loving her cats. Above all else, she just loved her children, grandchildren and numerous special extended family.
Margaret is survived by her children: Gordon Waibel of IL, Dee Waibel of Otisville, Kay Humphreys of North Branch, Margaret (Timothy) Olson of North Branch, David Waibel of Melvin and Lynnda Cobb of North Branch, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother: Gordon Foot as well as her aforementioned parents.
Margaret’s visitation will be 4:00-8:00pm Monday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Her funeral will be 11:00am Tuesday May 4, 2023 at Muirs, officiated by grandson, Thomas Olson. Burial will follow in Attica Township Cemetery.
