Born on February 8, 1968, in Owosso, Michigan, to Robert Figel and Frances Walworth, Paula grew up with a heart full of joy and a spirit brimming with vivacity.

Paula's life was a testament to the values of kindness, generosity, and courage that she held dear. Her radiant smile and warm embrace were a sanctuary for all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Paula graduated from high school with a zest for knowledge and an eagerness to take on the world. Paula met the love of her life Dave Mickelson in 1997. Together for 28 years and engaged for 19 of those years. On October 26, 2024, Paula and Dave were united in marriage. Their journey took her to various places, including Las Vegas, Nevada, and Murfreesboro, Tennessee, before she settled back in Lennon, Michigan.

Paula's personal life was rich with love and laughter, centered around her beloved husband, Dave Mickelson, and their blended family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cindie (Jason) Owens, and sons, Chris (Angela) McLaughlin and Zachary Mickelson. Paula was the proud grandmother to Carter, Kaylee, Connor, Kaylynn, Caleb, and Colton, whose lives she enriched with boundless affection and wisdom. Her role as a matriarch was one, she cherished above all, as she instilled in her family the importance of compassion and bravery.

Survived by her sister, Tammy Figel, and brother, Tony Figel, Paula's legacy of love and kinship will continue to resonate through the bonds of her tight-knit family. Her father, Robert predeceased her, but the foundation he set for Paula helped shape the extraordinary woman she became.

Paula had an insatiable love for traveling, finding solace in the majestic beauty of the over 130 waterfalls, she visited and the thrill of exploring new places. Hiking trails were her haven, and she found peace in the serenity of nature. Her love for the outdoors was only matched by her enthusiasm for cookouts, where she reveled in the joy of gathering friends and family to share in good food and great company.

Those who knew Paula will remember her for the light she brought into the world. She tackled life's challenges with an unwavering strength and a smile that could light up the darkest of days. Paula's kind heart and nurturing soul have left an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched.
