Dean, Alta J. – of Burton, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, surrounded by family. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church – 515 Bush Ave, Grand Blanc Mi 48439. Pastor John Bienlein to officiate. The family will receive visitors on Saturday at Church from noon until the time of service.
Alta was born February 17, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Ollen and Fern (Welsh) Swisher. Alta was a proud alumna of the Michigan School of the Deaf, graduating with the class of 1957. She found her life's joy in marriage to Arnold Dean; Arnold preceded her in death in 2011. She was a cherished member of the Masters House Deaf Church, where her faith was an integral part of her life. Alta was passionate about her church community, eagerly participating in various church activities and finding solace in her faith. Alta found joy in the simple things in life: sewing, playing bunco, attending church services, and cherishing life's little pleasures. Her kindness and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Surviving are: Children: Fred (Janet) McFarland, Kim (Mark) Terbush, Lennis McFarland, Charline (Paul) Shabo; Grandchildren: Alexandrea McFarland, Summer (Robert) Moore, Cameron (Helene) Charron, Chas VanLandeghem, Benjamin Shabo, Mitchell (Kayla) Terbush; 17 Great grandchildren and 1 on the way; Siblings: Art Swisher, Bonnie Pace, Donna (Richard) Hubler. A special thank you to Lois Kowalick and Chris Terbush for all their help. The family would like to send a special thank you to McLaren Hospice for all the compassion and care given. She is preceded in death by her brothers: Norris, Ivan, Carl and Lester; Sister-In-Laws, Maxine, Audrey, Reva, Laura; Grandson, Steven Terbush.
