ANTHONY, Mr. Johnnie “Pop” - Age 84, of Marietta, GA (formerly of Flint, MI, and Crawford, MS), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Wellstar Cobb Hospice. Born on August 1, 1940, in Crawford, Mississippi, Mr. Johnnie Anthony was the cherished son of Henry L. Anthony Sr. and Annie Longstreet Anthony. He spent most of his life in Flint, MI, before moving to Marietta, GA, to live with his son. Mr. Anthony, known by many as "Eck", will be remembered for his love of family, passion for long walks, and knack for working on cars. A dedicated fan of wrestling, he delighted in following the sport throughout his life. Professionally, Mr. Anthony contributed over 15 years of service to General Motors, where he developed expertise in manufacturing and engineering, earning respect for his hard work and commitment. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his son, Gregory (Kymia) Ferguson; grandson, Jaylen Ferguson; sisters, Carrie Hall of Flint and Annie Jane (Walter) Malone of Crawford, MS; brothers, Willie (Jessie) Anthony, David (Corine) Anthony, both of Flint, and Richard (Judy) Anthony of Oakland, CA; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, John “Sonny” Anthony; brothers, Henry L. “Pap” Anthony Jr., and sister, Vernise Bridges. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Wellstar Cobb Hospital ICU, Amedisys Home Healthcare, and to special family members, including Annie Jane Malone, Daniel (Renee) Hall, Jessie Anthony, Debra Bridges, Teresa “ReRe” Anthony-Johnson, The Lisa “Red” Anthony, Sandra (Damond) Dunbar, Alexandria Dunbar, and Kyndal Dunbar, for their unwavering support and care. A Celebration of Life will be held in Crawford, MS, and Flint, MI, at a later date. |
