STANLEY, Herbert E. “Herbie” – of Saranac, formerly of Clio, age 62, died on Friday, September 9, 2022, in Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be held 4PM Friday, September 16, 2022, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 11AM until the time of service at 4PM.
A Celebration of Life Bonfire for Herbie will be held in the cow pasture on the farm (where he’s been piling wood for the past year) - 5353 W David Hwy Saranac MI 48881, on Saturday night, October 15, 2022, fire-lighting at dusk. We will raise many glasses in his honour, and reminisce and remember him. There’ll be s’mores, snacks, and some fireworks if the weather co-operates. Please bring chairs and blankets to sit on, as well as something to eat and drink.
Herbie was born December 12, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, to Herbert and Mabel (Alexander) Stanley. He graduated from Clio High School in 1978. Herbie was creative and opened his own pizza place in Clio. He was a truck driver for 40 years, the last 12 years spent with Crystal Flash. At last he could be the farmer he always dreamed of being. Herbie loved cooking and baked wonderful bread. He enjoyed magnet fishing, panning for gold, and watching funny Tik-Tok videos to send to family members. He had an off-beat sense of humor, was kind, and enjoyed spending time in nature. Above all, he loved spending time with the love of his life, Cindy, grandchildren and his girls, the mini-horses.
Surviving are: Wife, Cindy Stanley; Daughters: Nanette Stanley (Chad), and Elizabeth Stanley; Grandchildren: Chad, Dakota, Rory, Zoe, Kailyn, and one grandson on the way, Herbert; Mother, Mabel Stanley; Sister, Julie (Ron) Blake; Brother, Brad (Kelly) Stanley; Father in law, Mervyn (Claire) Shaw; Many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends.
