ELIA (LAZAR), M. JEANNE “JEANNIE” – Of Grand Blanc, age 92, died Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her residence.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Jay Gantz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or the Assyrian Cemetery of Flint.
Visitation 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023 and 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Jeannie was born in Flint, Michigan on August 19, 1931, the daughter of the late Samuel and Alma (Baba) Lazar.
After graduating from Flint Northern High School she went on to become a beautician for 35 years.
Jeannie married Jacob Elia, who preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. She also became a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital in the gift shop for 15 years.
After retiring she became a Genesee Valley Mall walker, where she had many friends.
Surviving are her loving daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Lynne and husband John Hopkins along with her
grandchildren, Jacob Paul (Micaela) and Shelby Lynne (Chris) Angus;
sister, Nelly Warda;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Julius Lazar, Jacob Lazar and Paul Lazar; sister, Agnes Yalda.
