Maria Guadalupe (Lupe) Isaguirre, age 95, of Flint, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 3, 1925, to Soledad (Cortez) and Joseph Delgado. She was a proud graduate of Flint Technical High School. She married Salvador Isaguirre on October 2, 1948, and together they lovingly raised nine children in the city of Flint.
Lupe worked at AC in the late 1940s and early 1950s where she managed payroll in the business office. One of her many joys was dancing – she loved Big Band Music, was a member of a Mexican folkloric dance group performing at the Flint International Institute, and could be seen on the dance floor at family parties well into her 90s. She was a smart, inquisitive person who kept up to date on all current events, served as a poll worker, read avidly, and completed the daily crossword puzzle while humming a tune. Lupe was well known for her delicious cooking and baking though she didn’t enjoy spending time in the kitchen! She was very generous and caring often ensuring that everyone’s needs were taken care of before her own. Lupe was a great matriarch and instilled in her family a love of one another, great traditions, a welcoming home, and a reminder that there was always time for a dance. Those who were lucky enough to attend her Christmas Eve parties knew they witnessed something magical.
Lupe was a founding member of Saint Leo the Great Church. She was very active in the church community where she served as school secretary, organized funeral dinners, socialized with the 50 and over club, and volunteered at the North End Soup Kitchen.
Surviving relatives are her children, Daniel (Beverly) Isaguirre, Diana (Thomas) Garcia, Patricia Isaguirre,
Marge Isaguirre, Leo (Joyce) Isaguirre, Faye (Roger) Brown, Irene Isaguirre, and Andrew Isaguirre. Daughter-in-law; Margaret Isaguirre, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and sisters; Amelia Kuta and Lucia Miller. She was proceeded in death by her husband Salvador, son Philip, parents Joseph and Soledad Delgado, sister; Catalina Bentoski, brothers; Victor, John, and Charlie Delgado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the North End Soup Kitchen or Flint Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
The family gives heartfelt thanks to Patricia, Marge, and Beverly for providing Lupe with endless, tender, and loving care.
