MCCALLISTER, Mary Margaret - age 82, of Grand Rapids, died December 9, 2021. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Don Michael officiating. Interment will be held 9:30 AM Friday, December 17 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday. December 15 at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook St SE #300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 (faithhospicecare.org). Mary was born April 14, 1939 in Flint, the daughter of Alex and Lorraine (Hibbert) Michael and graduated in 1957 graduate from Mary Crapo High School. She married Edwin "Mac" McCallister on September 19, 1959 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2016. Mary retired from Swartz Creek Public Schools where she was a teacher's aide at Syring Elementary School. She spent most of her life as a resident of Swartz Creek. She loved life, made friends everywhere she went and danced every chance she got. She was a lifelong Lions fan and could hear slot machines calling her name when she visited the casinos. Surviving are: children, Michael E. (Maureen) McCallister, and Lisa (Bruce) Pohl; 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Erinn) McCallister, Molly (Nathan) MacGirr, Drake and Kendall Pohl; 3 great grandchildren , Liam, Lennon and Cade; siblings, Dale (Ruth) Michael, Marge Michael, Kay (Michael) Flint, Diane Michael, and Fred (Donna) Michael; many nieces and nephews.
