West, Leota “Lee” Jean of Flushing, age 90, died Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Medilodge of Montrose. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell will officiate. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Pierson Road YMCA.
Lee was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 6, 1932, the daughter of Howard Eugene and Fern Leota (Capes) Whittaker. She married Robert West on September 6, 1953, in Akron, Ohio. Shortly after they were married, Robert and Lee moved to Flint and then in 1969, moved to Flushing, Michigan and together raised their four boys. Lee loved all needlework, including quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and vegetable garden and canned various foods for her family. Lee also enjoyed baking, especially with her grandchildren. Her and Robert made many lasting friendships in the Flushing area and at the YMCA, where they enjoyed water aerobics.
Lee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert; sons, Robert Jr. and wife Lynn West, Christopher and wife Michelle West, Mark and wife Trina West, Bradley and wife Stacie West; grandchildren, Ryan and wife Jennifer West, Justin West, Scott West, Courtney West, Kristi and husband Kyle Plumb, Tiffany and husband Thomas Walker, Rachelle and husband Brandon Nixon, Tyler and wife Rebecca West, Allyson West; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Zachary, Landon, Ellynor, Ella, Lily, Taylor, Addison, Avery, Cameron, Madilyn, and two more on the way; brother-in-law, Roger and wife Joyce West; and sister-in-law, Kathleen West. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas Whittaker. |
